====================================================================== IBIS INTERCONNECT MODELING AD HOC TASK GROUP MEETING MINUTES AND AGENDA http://www.eda.org/ibis/adhoc/interconnect/ Mailing list: ibis-interconn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ====================================================================== Next Meeting Wednesday, December 17, 2008 8 AM US Pacific Time Telephone Bridge Passcode 916-356-2663 3 706-2634 LiveMeeting: https://webjoin.intel.com/?passcode=3674071 Agenda: - Call for patents - Opens - Review of final Touchstone 2.0 draft (con't) ====================================================================== Minutes from December 10: Attendees: ---------- (* denotes present) Agilent - Radek Biernacki*, John Moore, Ken Wong Ansoft - Denis Soldo Cadence Design Systems - Terry Jernberg, Brad Griffin Green Streak Programs - Lynne Green Hewlett-Packard - Rob Elliott Intel - Michael Mirmak* Mentor Graphics Corp. - John Angulo*, Vladimir Dmitriev-Zdorov Micron Technology - Randy Wolff Sigrity - Sam Chitwood, Raymond Y. Chen, Tao Su, Brad Brim* SiSoft - Walter Katz Teraspeed Consulting Group - Bob Ross* ======================================================================== No patents were announced. Michael inquired about upcoming meetings. A meeting will be held on Dec. 17, but meetings thereafter will be cancelled until early 2009. The team reviewed the draft 11 Touchstone 2.0 document posted to the mailing list. - Bob suggested that the dash, underscore, space rule sentence in #7 should be removed; Radek suggested adding a rule that only a single space be allowed (no whitespace multiples); keywords should be considered literal - Radek noted that the last sentence in rule #4 does not make sense; did we ever want to use SNP, with N as the letter instead of a number? - Radek added an objection to the "To address this," sentence, as it does not add value - Radek asked, does "other than those recommended" mean no extension whatsoever? It should be clear that a missing extension is acceptable. - Bob requested that, on p. 5, the keywords be put in an indented list; Radek added that the sequence of keywords is very good. - Radek suggested removing the reference to insertion loss as this is a derived quantity; we're ordering the entries, not the losses. - Bob suggested that the word "additional" in first sentence is repetitive. - Bob asked whether [Number of Ports] and [Version] are a 1-2 pair? Can the options line fit in-between? Most but not all ordering done with respect to [Version] or [Number of Ports]. Current rule: options line must appear before [Network Data]. - Radek questioned why the options line is permitted *first*. He suggested keeping the current [Version] rule. - Brad added that if we change options line in future, having Version first is useful; Michael asked how likely that was. Radek observed that we are removing functions from options; Bob noted that it still defines default reference impedance, plus other defaults. - Radek noted that ordering of options vs. [Reference] is not a parsing problem - A new rule was agreed: options after [Number of Ports] and before [Network Data]; this was tabled for future discussion - On p. 9, [Number of Frequencies] is ordered versus [Version]. This should be changed to [Number of Ports] globally - On p. 11, move examples 5 and 6 after [Network Data] - the phrase "Touchstone 2.0" should include "and later" globally - On p.13, care should be taken regarding rules for Network Data in version 1.0 The remainder of the document will be covered in the next meeting. AR: Bob to check on any conflicts with the use of .ts as an extension AR: Michael to provide formal review text - DONE ======================================================================== Team Objectives: 1) complete ICM-IBIS linking BIRD and any associated changes to the ICM specification 2) update the ICM specification, if needed, to clarify the mapping of ICM nodes to S-parameter ports 3) complete a specification for "Touchstone Plus" or similar industry-standard definition for Touchstone-like files, to include complex impedance references, removal of limits on the maximum number of ports and per-port impedance references ------------------------------------------------------------------
